Professor Marvin Caruthers is a distinguished American biochemist and a pioneer in oligonucleotide synthesis. His groundbreaking research has led to the development of numerous nucleic acid analogues with critical applications in diagnostics and therapeutics.

As the head of a renowned laboratory at the University of Colorado, Professor Caruthers played a pivotal role in developing the widely adopted methodologies for synthesizing DNA—techniques that have revolutionized molecular biology and biotechnology.

Beyond academia, he has been instrumental in shaping the biotechnology industry as the founder or co-founder of several major companies, including Amgen, Applied Biosystems, Array BioPharma, and miRagen.
